Let Sleeping Dogs Lie (2004) Original Pencil Drawing by David Lloyd

This study of a sleeping beagle named Dodo was made using water-colour pencil crayons. She was a puppy that my wife's friend let us "try" to look after for a weekend to see if we wanted to adopt it. I think the poor young puppy was too scared without her family and cried a lot the whole time. She would not even look me in the eye and that made it extra difficult to draw her! I eventually had the chance to draw her briefly as she slept. In the end we decided it was best to return her to her family where she would feel happier and more comfortable.
