Leopard
Award-Winning & Internationally Exhibited Original Pastel Painting
Leopard is one of my most recognised wildlife portraits and an important work within my collection.
With this painting, I wanted to capture the extraordinary combination of beauty, strength and quiet intensity that makes the leopard such a fascinating animal.
The eyes became the emotional centre of the portrait. Rather than portraying movement or aggression, I wanted to capture a moment of complete stillness — an alert, intelligent presence that creates an immediate connection between the animal and the viewer.
The artwork was created entirely by hand using professional artist-quality pastels on paper. I gradually developed the portrait through many layers, combining subtle tonal transitions with extremely fine pastel strokes to create the softness, depth and intricate pattern of the leopard's coat.
For me, wildlife realism is about more than technical detail. My aim is to capture something of the animal's individuality and spirit — to create a presence that can be felt as well as seen.
Since its creation, Leopard has received international recognition through awards, exhibitions and publications.
