Original artwork description
“Legend of the Vitba River” is a visual embodiment of an ancient legend about a young woman who lagged behind her tribe, hurrying away from the Black Mountains. Enveloped by a living, almost animate forest, she wandered in despair; the tears that streamed from her eyes transformed into a winding flow that echoed her path through the hills. According to the legend, this is how the Vitba River came into being—a river that still flows through the city of Vitebsk today, reflecting the history and culture of the region in its waters.
Created using the technique of oil monotype with acrylic additions, the painting features shimmering color transitions and a multilayered texture that convey the magical ambiance of the mysterious forest. At the center of the composition stands a feminine silhouette, at once delicate and filled with inner strength. Every detail seems to mirror the winding motion of the riverbed, highlighting the emotional depth of the legend.
“Legend of the Vitba River” will be a mesmerizing focal point in any interior, bringing the breath of an ancient legend and timeless lore to life. This piece doesn’t merely recount a story—it captivates the imagination, drawing the viewer into a world where the forces of nature and human emotion intertwine to create a truly unique artistic vision.
