After a long drive up a boring motorway network, we finally reached Cumbria late in the afternoon. It had been many years since I'd visited this part of England, and the first time I'd seen Ullswater. In the late sun after a warm day, the clouds gathered somewhat but didn't dampen the rich colours around the lake.
