In A Far Away Land (2022) Original Oil Painting by Ryan Louder

In A Far Away Land is a large original oil painting on canvas, 178 x 152 cm (70 x 60 inches), by London artist Ryan Louder. A dreamlike landscape crowded with figures and forms, somewhere between reality and the unknown.

When I paint, I let my mind wander and play, allowing colours and shapes to take on a life of their own. Some of the figures in this scene are plucked straight from my own experiences; others are entirely abstract and open to interpretation. There are moments of beauty and moments of distortion, moments of lightness and moments of darkness. At its core, this painting is a celebration of imagination — the magic of the dream world, and what happens when you allow yourself to be open to the endless possibilities inside you.

Painted in oil on canvas in my London studio.

I'm a London-based artist, and my work often reflects vivid and surreal imagery inspired by my unique experience with REM intrusion — a condition where dream-like visions can appear while I'm awake. My paintings explore the boundary between waking reality and the dream world, using layered compositions to create a sense of depth and movement.

I paint with high-quality materials and put a lot of thought into texture and detail. My process is a mix of intuitive brushwork and deliberate layering, aiming to create pieces that are rich in emotion and invite you to see something new each time you look at them.

This piece will be carefully packaged using protective materials and dispatched via a tracked courier. If you have any questions or special requests, please don't hesitate to reach out.
