Immigrants Arriving at Ellis Island (2013) Original Acrylic Painting by Andrew Sabori

This painting was just returned from US State Dept. Arts is Embassies Program. It was displayed in the US Embassy in Tajikistan for 3 years. Copy of the Loan Agreement will be included to show provenance.

The painting shows a tightly packed row of men in dark coats and bowler-style hats leaning against a wooden rail, their faces turned forward or in profile with sharp moustaches and pale complexions. The composition is set against muted tan and grey panels above a white mesh barrier, with vertical posts dividing the scene. Broad brushwork and restrained earth tones give the figures a sober, structured presence.
