These paintings are chasing the feeling of weightlessness you achieve underwater. I love how you can remove the water yet still know it is water just by the way the body moves. I have developed a looser style recently, making the water much more gestural, which contrasts and pushes the more realistic body forward.
I take all the underwater photos for my paintings, working with my models to create the shots I’m looking for. I love being able to shape the process right from the beginning.
