Iceland landscape 11 (2025) Original Ink Drawing by Steve Potts
20.6 x 14.5cm (unframed) / 18.5 x 12.6cm (actual image size)
£200
Original artwork description
One of the larger Iceland drawings. I worked from notes and memory made during our family trip in 2025. One thing I was trying to do with some of the Iceland drawings was find a way to make a small piece feel like it contained a large distance. This one is probably the most deliberate attempt at that. The composition works through overlapping layers, foreground forms sitting in front of middle ground, middle ground in front of a receding horizon, each plane pushing the next one further back. The intention was to make something you could imagine walking into, where the distance keeps going rather than stopping at the edge of the paper.
Materials used:
ink, wash
Details:
- Ink drawing on Paper
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 20.6 x 14.5cm (unframed) / 18.5 x 12.6cm (actual image size)
- Signed on the front
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Landscapes, sea and sky
