This work was done with a ballpoint pen on office paper А3. I deliberately use the simplest and most non-artistic materials. I want to emphasize the lightness, simplicity, accessibility and illusion of contemporary art.
Against a dense, almost endless grid, a barely discernible silhouette of a palm emerges, like a print or a ghostly presence. The white ovals of the fingers stand out as voids, whilst the circle in the centre resembles simultaneously a scanner, an eye, a target and a sensor. The thick line entering it creates a sense of connection or signal transmission. The image balances between biometrics and mysticism: here, the hand is no longer merely a part of the body, but an interface through which recognition, control or an attempt at communication takes place. Despite the austerity of the composition, a sense of fragility and loneliness pervades the work — as if human presence were dissolving into an infinite coordinate system.
The picture must be expanded and placed in a graphic frame. This can be easily done by yourself or in any baguette studio.
