This original oil painting is an intimate close-up portrait of a dog, centred on its large, expressive eye and quiet emotional presence. The unusual perspective brings the viewer very close to the animal, creating an immediate and almost personal encounter.

I worked with loose, visible brushstrokes and layered colour rather than precise realism. Soft cream and neutral tones are contrasted with olive green, ochre, burgundy and deep brown, while the dark reflective eye becomes the emotional focal point of the composition.

The painting was created with professional oil paints on canvas. Variations in paint thickness, spontaneous marks and visible brushwork give the surface a tactile, painterly quality and preserve the energy of the creative process.

For me, this work is about the silent connection that can exist between a person and an animal. A single glance can communicate curiosity, trust and vulnerability without the need for words.
