East Coast (2020) Original Oil Painting by Tetiana Surshko

100 x 70 x 2cm (unframed) / 100 x 70cm (actual image size)

£1,338.53

The last minutes before sunset, when the whole beach turns to gold. A pale sun hangs low over brown hills, the sky burns from turquoise through orange to scarlet, and the wet sand reflects it all in one wide sheet of yellow light. Dark rocks built with a palette knife sit in the glow like islands, their edges catching blue, orange and white, while the sea behind them stays deep cobalt and green. Golden Hour Beach is a large expressionist seascape about warmth, calm and the end of a good day.

The painting belongs to my Living Water series, where I paint water in all its moods. This is the evening one. Living in Lisbon, I see this light almost every clear day over the Atlantic, and I wanted to keep the exact moment when the sand becomes brighter than the sky and everything slows down.

The canvas is 100 x 70 cm (about 39.4 x 27.6 inches) in landscape format, a generous size that fills the wall above a sofa, a bed or a long sideboard on its own. The warm yellow and orange make it a natural fit for a living room, a dining room, a bedroom or a hotel lobby, on white, cream, beige or dark grey walls.

It is painted in oil on stretched cotton canvas. The sky, sea and sand are laid in smooth blended layers with long horizontal strokes, and the rocks are built with a palette knife in thick impasto, so they stand out from the surface and catch real light. The painting is signed, varnished for protection, and the sides are painted, so it is ready to hang with no frame needed.

It ships stretched on its wooden bars in a sturdy protective box, never rolled, by tracked and insured courier from Lisbon, Portugal, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Keep it out of direct sunlight and dust gently with a soft dry cloth. If you would like more photos, a close-up of the rocks or a view in a room setting, send me a message and I will be glad to help.
