Award-Winning Original Abstract Acrylic Painting

Waves is an original abstract acrylic painting inspired by the energy, movement and unpredictability of water.

Created through fluid and textural applications of acrylic paint, the composition developed through the interaction of colour and movement. Deep blacks create a dramatic background from which intense areas of red, orange, yellow and white appear to surge and flow across the canvas.

The organic forms reminded me of waves colliding — moments of energy where water seems to twist, break and transform before disappearing again.

Unlike my highly detailed wildlife portraits, Waves allowed me to work in a much more instinctive and spontaneous way. Rather than controlling every detail, I allowed the materials themselves to become part of the creative process, creating patterns, textures and transitions that could never be repeated exactly.

The result is a unique, one-of-a-kind abstract painting filled with movement, contrast and energy.
