Evening light in Madrid (2026) Original Watercolour by Darren Carey

Bring the vibrant, romantic spirit of Spain into your home with this stunning architectural painting of Madrid’s most famous landmark. This piece beautifully captures the Metropolis Building (Edificio Metrópolis), standing proudly at the iconic intersection of Calle de Alcalá and Gran Vía.
Hand-painted using a sophisticated blend of fluid watercolor washes and fine gouache details, the artwork highlights the building's striking Beaux-Arts architecture. The rich, dark textures of the slate dome contrast elegantly against the luminous sky, while precise gouache accents bring forward the intricate stone carvings, the classic Spanish flag, and the legendary winged statue of Victoria crowning the dome.
