. . .

Some alchemists turned lead into gold.
All right.
Easy.

Nature managed to turn clouds into rain
and coal into diamonds.

Our hermeticists really ought to update their ambitions a little.
Have they even thought of it?
The possibilities are revolutionary!

To metamorphose milk into mother-of-pearl,
ladybirds into rubies,
blueberries into sapphires,
the ocean into emerald.

We could plunge into those precious waters,
feel submerged, flooded with riches,
intoxicated by the ebb and flow of the waves.

Dead drunk, swallowed by the liquid jewel,
we could also sink,
become mired,
drown,
and then
lose ourselves.
