Echoes of dance (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Sophie HORS

I was particularly inspired by the iconic visual world of « West Side Story » and by the fleeting movement and stillness. I chose to reinterpret the atmosphere through my own painterly language, focusing closely on the dancer’s legs and the flowing layers of her skirt. Rich purples, vibrant pinks and deep plues create a dramatic dreamlike atmosphere. The reflection beneath her feet extends the composition and gives the painting a sense of depth, rhythm and movement. I wanted to capture that moment when the movement remains present in the body. The loose, expressive brushwork and luminous colors give the piece an energetic and contemporary feel. It’s about movement, féminité, color and performance.
The artwork is framed in a light natural American-style floating frame.
