Original artwork description
In Deep Earth, I sought to capture the profound, layered history of the landscape, translating the raw, tactile reality of the terrain into an abstract vision. By layering heavy, textured pigments with deliberate, etched markings, I bridge the physical, weathered surface of the earth with an internal, atmospheric experience of space. The deep, saturated blues of the sky contrast with the warm, shifting ochres and umbers below, creating a dialogue between the vastness above and the ancient, geological weight of the ground. Through this interplay of light, shadow, and scratched detail, I invite the viewer to look beyond the surface and engage with the quiet, elemental forces that shape our world. For me, this piece is an exploration of time and geography, where every stroke and incision serves as a testament to the enduring, rugged beauty of the natural environment.
