Deal at Dusk (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Anna Shelvey

Deal at Dusk is an original acrylic painting inspired by the atmosphere around Deal Pier as daylight fades.

Rather than documenting a specific place, this painting explores the feeling of standing beneath an expansive evening sky as warm light dissolves into cool blues and soft pinks. The pier becomes little more than a suggestion, allowing colour, space and memory to become the focus.

Painted in layered acrylic with scraped and textured passages, the work balances abstraction with recognisable coastal forms. It sits as a companion to my earlier painting End of the Pier, Deal, which explored the same location during rain. Where that work reflected solitude and changing weather, this painting is about optimism, light and the quiet calm that follows.

Inspired by the feeling a place leaves behind, my paintings explore light, atmosphere and memory through abstract landscapes. Rather than recreating a scene exactly as it appears, I use layers of acrylic paint, texture and colour to capture the experience of being there.

Each original painting is individually created by hand and no two are ever the same.

Selected original paintings are also available as museum-quality fine art prints.

Please note that colours may vary slightly due to individual screen settings.
