Five figures gather at the edge of a dark pine forest, its treetops caught in the last light of a September sunset. They dance, pray, and speak in hushed tones, present yet apart from the human world.
Inspired by the Finnish epic Kalevala, these are the daughters of Tuoni and Tuonetar: Loviatar, Kalma, Kivutar, Kiputyttö, and Vammatar. Not villains, but forces bound to their roles within a natural and mythological order. Their garments dissolve into the forest - the greens of moss and conifer, the warm, almost blood-like glow of the fading sun.
The work is less an illustration than an atmosphere - a meditation on predetermination, the limits of human agency, and the forces that shape existence beyond our comprehension.
