Marco Ortolan – Architect & Visual Artist

As an architect and visual artist, I explore the delicate boundary between precise structure and suspended emotion. My practice spans atmospheric oil paintings and intricate ballpoint pen drawings, centering on the human figure, intimate portraits, aquatic scenes, and urban environments.

In my oil works, I use a restrained palette and subtle light to capture moments of quietude—figures submerged in water, soft gestures, and serene cityscapes. My ballpoint pen drawings, by contrast, offer an obsessively detailed and meditative approach on paper, exploring identity, love, the body, and music with directness and rigor.

Drawing from the structure of the Italian Renaissance and the light of French Impressionism, I create contemplative works that invite reflection and personal connection.
