Original artwork description:

This drainage dyke flows through the reeds on its way to the river Great Ouse just outside the fenland cathedral city of Ely in England. At the end of the dyke is a partially submerged barge.
Christopher Witchall's landscape paintings capture the enormous open spaces and vast skies of the Cambridgeshire Fens where he has explored, painted and photographed for 30 years. His unsentimental approach to landscape combines traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.

Materials used:

Oil paint on deep edge canvas. No need for framing.
