By the yellow field, Wiltshire
Along the byway to Ox drove,
An ancient agricultural landscape,
A peaceful place to explore,
An unusual light,
Illuminating the flower crop and Copse.

Words and feelings of a recent walk not far from where I live in the National park of outstanding natural beauty of the Cranborne Chase.
Original expressive watercolour on cold pressed Fabriano 300gsm 140lb.
I painted this scene using my visual memory and experience of the landscape. I wet the paper all over and applied a pale wash of yellow. I connected the same colour yellow in the rapeseed field. I used a sweeping baseline technique for the trees and dropped different colours onto the wet paper and tipped the pigments to create natural organic shapes.
I love experimenting and just seeing what evolves on the paper.

Materials used:

Cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, pebeo watercolours , sable hair brush, filbert brush, Chinese brush,
