Title: Birth of a Torii #16 (屋台 YATAI)
The sixteenth work in a series re-imagining the origin of the traditional Japanese gate to a sacred space or shrine, TORII (鳥居).
In Fukuoka at dusk, a TORII (鳥居) comes to be among the YATAI 屋台 street stalls.
Painted with acrylics on canvas. Using razor blades and brushes, a foundation of colors are layered to a rich texture, and overlaid with intricate lines and geometric patterns resembling circuitry.
