The "Birth of a Torii 鳥居の生まれ" series reimagines the origin of a torii (鳥居), the traditional Japanese gate marking the entrance to a sacred space or shrine. In these paintings, I place torii as symbols of reverence and divine protection, often in unexpected locations.

✨The "Cloud-maker" series is a metaphor for the imagination. Networks, reminiscent of electronic circuitry, represent processes of memory and imagination. Through these paintings, I visualize how ideas and perceptions are linked and transformed.

✨Professional experience as an electronics technician has deeply influenced the visual metaphors in my work, shaped further by years living in Japan. Blending Japanese cultural symbols, architecture, and iconic landscapes, I examine how traditions and technology influence human connection.

✨I received formal MFA training at the Tokyo University of the Arts (東京藝術大学院) (2004–2005) as a graduate student of oil painting under Koji Kinutani. While living in Kyoto from 2000–2004 and Nagasaki from 2019–2022, I was introduced to the aesthetics and philosophies of Japanese artists, which continue to guide my compositions and subject matter. Experiences working in Gaeta, Italy (2005–2007) and Naples, Italy (2017–2019) also continue to inform my palette and themes.✨
