Original artwork description
"Between Heaven and Earth" diptych
In my work, I explore the subtle transitions between the physical world we inhabit and the weightless, internal spaces of the subconscious mind. Between Heaven and Earth is a diptych created to examine how human experience remains tethered to reality while constantly reaching toward something transcendent.
The upper panel presents a moment of total surrender. Suspended upside down in cool, luminous teal waters, the floating figure exists in a state of quiet neutrality, detached from gravity and time. The surface above glows softly, serving as a boundary between conscious thought and pure feeling.
In contrast, the lower panel grounds the viewer in a quieter, terrestrial reality. A vast orange expanse—evocative of an atmospheric horizon or an inner sky—bleeds into a subdued coastal landscape. Below a muted horizon, modern architecture stands along a solitary coastline where a figure walks alone. This lower realm grounds the ethereal weightlessness of the top canvas, bringing the viewer back to the rhythm of everyday existence.
By placing these two panels in dialogue, the diptych captures the balance of human life: the constant drift between physical reality and emotional weightlessness, suspended forever between the grounded world and the infinite.
