Beloved (2016) Original Acrylic Painting by Phyllis Mahon

My inspiration for this image ...

In this painting of two trees side by side, I wanted to create and celebrate a feeling of companionship and brightness - that feeling where the one you love, the one you are close to, or yearning to be with, is a shining beacon of light for you.
My main inspiration is the wonderful trees around my home; they're like a cradle for our love. Also various songs that resonate with me, perhaps most of all Sting's " I burn for you".

I have shaped each tree as a very subtle heart. The dark sky is filled with radiating lines whereas the foreground is relatively simple but with rays from the firey sky sloping across the centre foreground and the tips of the grasses on the extreme lower right just catching that brightness also.

Painted throughout June 2016
Signed bottom left.

It is painted on Winsor & Newton Professional (Linen) canvas with the image carrying on around the edge. I've used a range of subtle colours of the spectrum in that brightness.
