Assembly Line (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Lu Dixon

42 x 59.4cm (unframed)

£295

'Assembly Line' is an original mixed media artwork exploring repetition, routine and the relentless rhythm of modern industrial life. A striking combination of vivid yellow, fiery orange, deep charcoal and blue-green creates a dynamic composition filled with layered textures, bold typography and rhythmic geometric patterns.

Large, repeated numerals and oversized yellow lettering dominate the surface, evoking the language of production, measurement and mass manufacture. Beneath and around these forms, splattered marks, distressed textures and horizontal lines suggest the movement of machinery, the repetition of tasks and the constant flow of activity along a production line. A strong vertical black form cuts through the composition, creating contrast and tension against the vibrant, fragmented layers of colour.

The interplay between structured patterns and spontaneous mark-making gives the piece a sense of movement and controlled chaos. Repetition becomes both a visual rhythm and a reflection on the routines that shape our working lives, raising questions about individuality, identity and the balance between human creativity and mechanised processes.

Bold, energetic and contemporary, Assembly Line combines industrial-inspired imagery with expressive abstract techniques to create a visually compelling statement piece. Its vibrant palette and layered surface would bring colour, texture and character to a modern home, creative studio or workspace.
