Rainbow. Aristovo (2001) Original Oil Painting by Simon Kozhin

124.4 x 73.4 x 5.5cm (framed) / 100 x 50cm (actual image size)

£12,822.45

This painting was painted after a trip to the plein air in the Russian North during the year of the artist's studies at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture on plain air sketches and photographs. A vast expanse of deep blue water Severnaya Dvina river dominates the foreground. The horizon stretches wide under a heavy, overcast sky. A soft rainbow arcs gracefully across the grey clouds. This fleeting light brings a sense of hope to the moody atmosphere. To the right, Aristovo golden cliffs rise sharply from a narrow strip of pale sand. Lush green vegetation clings to the precipice. The contrast between the warm earth tones and the cool aquatic palette creates a balanced tension. Each brushstroke captures the raw power of the coastline. The composition leads the eye from the stillness of the water toward the rugged height of the land. This artwork evokes a feeling of solitude and natural grandeur. The interplay of light and shadow suggests a moment just after a storm. The scene remains timeless in its quiet intensity. The focus rests on the intersection of earth, water, and air.
In this oil painting, I endeavored to capture the delicate interplay of light and shadow during a tranquil evening. The rich, golden hues and gentle brushstrokes bring forth the lush warmth of the scene, evoking a deep sense of peace and contemplation. Each stroke is imbued with my passion for nature's quiet moments, offering a serene retreat into the beauty of the fading day. This artwork is meant to infuse any space with a cozy, reflective ambiance.
