Biography
Karina Fraser is an abstract synaesthetic artist based in Hampshire, England.
As a visual artist I work with pigment and sound to replicate the neurological experiences of the sound-colour synaesthesia that punctuates my every day. Working in collaboration with musicians and sound designers, I split pigment down to it’s base to reconstruct into multi-layered concepts.
I often bring in elements of memory and sentimentality through the creation and use of pigments made from natural elements or by using substrate personal to the music, memory and chromothesic experience.
I enjoy working to commission for collector's special pieces of music or sound - a first dance, their child's voice, a shared special aural memory - translating what is heard into a visual representation. This is particularly effective for influencing the feel of the space in which the final piece is hung.
