About Vaida Varnagiene

  • Biography

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Dublin, originally from Klaipeda, Lithuania who uses a multidisciplinary approach and diverse concepts in art practice employing different media, such as painting, drawing, printmaking, and photography. My visual art practice is inspired by the role of the archaeologist, investigator, and explorer. I am looking for the concepts of different subject matter that contains symbolic or metaphoric meaning. The purpose of my work is to explore the material world and built environment created by humans and express this through the visual language. My work is an exploration of contemporary world, myth, and fantasy conveyed through mixed media and printmaking. My ideas extend the boundaries between reality and imagination: utopias and dystopias, heterotopias, alchemy and illusion that are all used in my work.

I have exhibited in numerous group shows around Ireland and internationally (Spain, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia, USA). My work was acquired by OPW (State art collection) Ireland and private art collectors worldwide. I actively participate in fine art print exhibitions, symposiums, biennials, and triennials all over the world.
