About Susanna Montagnino

Biography

Susanna Montagnino was born in Turin, where she studied at the art school. In her creative path and work experience, she keeps her artistic research distinct by alternating painting and sculpture. In the context of oil painting, she portrays landscape themes of various kinds and floral portraits with spectacular effect. Aesthetics and harmony are the leitmotif of her work, appreciated by a wide audience. Many of her paintings are in private collections. Susanna has exhibited in numerous Italian galleries. she collaborated with the sculptor Sergio Unia. I introduce myself in this context by timidly peeping out, being reserved in expressing in words what my gestures and the use of color want to manifest. My approach to art was instinctive; I felt the need to experiment with my creative abilities both in sculpture, through working with clay, and in painting. My sculptures are the expression of harmony and an introspective research that is revealed through figuration. A gesture, a reference, a reflection or contemplation take expression in a young woman, a child. Plastic art contains within itself a very gratifying aspect, that is, the sensation of creating something that takes life and shape from your hands, becoming a "speaking" entity that communicates and evokes emotions to its viewer-interlocutor. It is the pleasure of handling clay, a ductile material that is well suited to the project and the expectations of those who work it ... I also expressed myself in the pictorial scope. Nature fascinates me. I find the chromatic range of the flowers wonderful. The themes I love to portray can be floral close-ups executed with a brush in a realistic way; or glimpses, painted with a palette knife, with garden blooms in an intimate climate, where light and the contrasts of vivid colors interchange. In using the spatula, I found a certain familiarity with the gestures I use in modeling clay and which gratified me in drawing up the pictorial mass.
