About Steve Stary

Biography

Steve Stary is an American landscape painter and commercial & fine art photographer whose work explores atmospheric landscape, abstraction, and cinematic mood through expressive brushwork and color. Drawing from a long background in commercial photography, filmmaking, and visual storytelling, Steve Stary combines painterly movement with a photographer’s sense of light, composition, and emotional timing. His abstract landscapes are often inspired by remembered places, western terrain, rivers, storms, and cinematic impressions shaped by years working behind the camera. Stary studied cinema and film production at Columbia Film School in Hollywood and working as a comercia photographer and cinematographer do TV and film production shoots, building a strong foundation in visual composition, narrative atmosphere, and lighting design that continues to influence both his photography and painting practices. Working primarily in acrylic on large gallery-wrapped canvases.
