Spencer J. Derry BA (Hons), is accomplished in many artistic styles and genres including - Surrealism, Erotic Art, Macabre Art, Traditional Landscapes and Portrait drawings. Derry creates mainly with pencil, paint and ink pen on paper. He creates original hand-drawn illustrations, painted drawings in black and white and in colour. Derry prefers drawing from his imagination for a great deal of his art. His Influences including Salvador Dali, Van Gogh, Picasso, & H. R. Giger. Music, photography and films also inspire ideas which result in depictions and images in his artwork.
Spencer studied A-Level Art, Art History, Photography from 1990-1991. BTEC Art and Design at West Cheshire Art College 1991-93 in Chester. He gained a Bachelor of Arts with 2.1 (Hons) at Hull School of Art, the University of Humberside in 1996.
Spencer worked Freelance with a well-known musician, a Minneapolis genius, the late Prince. Prince's team requested & commissioned Spencer to create 3rdeyeart illustrations and concept drawings for Paisley Park 2014-17.
Spencer has also created Official Art for the Fonky Bald Heads and Judith Hill.
Awards: Nominated for The Erotic Arts: Artist of the Year 2012. Black Sheep Gallery, (Annual Open Exhibition) 2000; Highly Commended & Winner of The Overall Public Vote. Nominated for Randolph Caldecott Society Award, whilst at West Cheshire Art College in 1991.
Spencer has exhibited in numerous Solo & Group Art Shows in Cheshire, Liverpool, Edinburgh & Seattle.
