About Yulia Lihina

Biography

My work is rooted in a deep emotional response to the world around me. I am especially drawn to atmosphere, light, and the subtle psychological tension that can exist within a single moment. Whether I paint a landscape, a portrait, or a cinematic scene, I try to capture not only how something looks, but how it feels.

Cinema is one of my strongest sources of inspiration. I am fascinated by the emotional depth of actors, the power of composition, and the way light can transform an ordinary image into something unforgettable. I often explore complex inner states, quiet drama, and moments of reflection.

I work primarily in oil, charcoal, and pastel. I prepare my canvases by hand and use techniques inspired by the old masters, including imprimatura, which helps me build depth, harmony, and a luminous surface. My process combines careful observation with an intuitive search for mood and meaning.

Through my art, I want to create images that feel alive, honest, and emotionally lasting.
