About Rick Wedel

  • Biography
In my work I'm seeking a balance between the human form and the expressive mark. We have such an innate relationship to the figure, that even in their generalized or abstracted states, they still have a strong influence. I rely on their visual weight to ground my mix of color, texture, light and space. Interpretation has been a strong element in my paintings for over 20 years. I'm seeking a dynamic image that will change for the viewer over time, physical distance, light and personal experience. My goal is to create starting points from which the viewer may play.
