About Richard Heley

  • Biography
I'm a painter and poet, I slammed for a London team against Asheville the then US Poetry slam champions and when I came off stage the host said to me that I wrote poetry like an artist. So, I paint like a poet. Sliding through time down the drain like a whirlpool of unfettered feelings that stick to the ceiling and turn my world upside down back to front smile is a frown.
It is a world where everything passes everything changes, everything born knows the process of aging. Each moment is born anew and dies instantaneously, we live in a world of birth and death simultaneously.
Sometimes I think that I am just one pair of eyes of the universe observing itself and asking itself "How do I make every moment, as it unfolds, a moment of joy, wonder and learning?" Then those meditations just drop out onto the canvas which become filled to the brim with desires, frustrations, memories, hopes, clinging, wanting, celebrating, joyous observation and a dialogue with me, you and the universe.
I'm here to decorate the garden.
