  • Biography

Having always had an interest in the natural world, I use art to express my passion for wildlife, both British and the more exotic. I'm also inspired by music, people and places that have influenced me throughout my life.

I finished school aged 16. At 17 I left home and joined the British army where my true education took place. I'm self taught at almost everything I do or have done and continue to learn each day. I now live on the Suffolk coast where I have a studio in my home. I work every day to the sound of loud blues or rock music. The rest of my time is spent out hiking with my dogs, wood carving or writing. I've written 2 novels and an autobiography so far. Occasionally I remember to feed myself too.

    Hornimans Tea Painting competition

If you type 'Hornimans Tea Painting Competition' into your search engine, a chapter of my autobiography 'Blood, Sweat and Beer' may come up which will explain in greater detail this momentous event in my young life. Suffice to say I won a book token worth 25 shillings (people under 50 may need to Google that) which was about equivalent to a day's pay for my father at the time. From that day I considered myself an artist. I bought a big fat wildlife encyclopedia with my token which further influenced the direction of my fledgling career.

There were other minor awards after that, but few worth a mention. As a serving soldier I did receive a prize for a caricature I created of the regimental sergeant major. For that I was awarded three days in the guardhouse for insubordination.

Event: Mighty Fine Art by Peter Williams

    Dates: 1 Nov 2015 - 5 Nov 2015

Venue: The Workshop Gallery, Snape Maltings, Snape, Suffolk, UK.

A five day solo exhibition in the 'Old Workshop' gallery on the quay at Snape Maltings in Suffolk. I will be in attendance each day and will be displaying approximately 40 original paintings and drawings as well as a selection of giclee prints and greetings cards.

Snape is a lovely place deep in rural, coastal Suffolk on the banks of the river Alde, surrounded by marshland and the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The maltings complex houses several galleries, shops, a bakery with cafe as well as a very nice pub. Well worth a visit if in the area.

My exhibitions are always dog friendly, relaxed affairs where I enjoy meeting and chatting to visitors from all over the country who have chosen the area for a getaway break, as well as the local art enthusiasts.
