About Olga Koval
Biography
Olga has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She was born in the industrial city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. She grew up with her mother and grandparents and never saw her father. He abandoned her before Olga was born. Her grandfather had a large library at home; he was passionate about adventure books, history books, and collected nature stories and fairy tales from around the world. Olga began reading and drawing illustrations for these books simultaneously; she found them rather boring without illustrations. It was then that her friendship with painting began.
Olga's fascination with European art later came when she could afford to travel to Paris and fell completely in love with the Impressionists. She spent countless hours visiting galleries and libraries, meticulously studying one painting after another. She traveled across Europe to see the Old Masters, where each country represented a distinct school of painting and the opportunity to see world masterpieces firsthand. For example, she traveled to Vienna specifically to see Albrecht Dürer's "The Hare." This painting left an unforgettable impression on her, and she spent a week in Vienna, visiting the exhibition every day and studying this masterpiece.
Some artists choose a single genre for their work. Olga, however, doesn't. Her paintings range widely: from still lifes to landscapes, animals, and even portraits. Not all artists possess the ability to transition from one genre to another, but Olga has found her way. Each of her incredible works is a unique story, filled with emotion and depth.
Since then, she has had a deep adoration for the canvas and all it can become in her hands. Her use with a brush and a pallet knife bring subjects to life in a stunning way
Olga has had the pleasure of presenting her pieces in private and public galleries throughout the world including Europe, Canada, America, and Australia.
