About Nella Alao

I am an international professional artist with collectors around the world, from USA to Australia and exhibitions in Portugal, England and Ireland. I have my art studio "Studio Alao Ltd", at Blackboys, Uckfield, in East Sussex. 

Originally from Lisbon, I started painting in 1996 as a self-taught artist.

Living in UK since 2008, in London initially, and after 10 years I moved to the countryside where I feel more connection with nature and I have beautiful landscapes and seascapes to inspires me. Also, as I like to know the country where I live, I have been traveling around UK and I have been in amazing places from Highlands to South West and  Wales, I observed nature scenery that delighted me. This experiences coupled with my memories from Portugal and few more travels in world, makes my inspiration to represent in my paintings beautiful landscapes, seascapes, Skies, anything in nature. I am very passionate about nature so my paintings are transmissions of my passion and energy. I paint in a positive emotion, offering tranquility, relaxation, peace, and healing. However, my abstract style is more energetic, vibrating, full of movement and contrast.

I work in an impressionist, expressionist or abstract style with technique of strokes and/or palette knife, mainly I use oil on canvas or watercolours.
