About Nathalie Pymm Art

Biography

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up as the daughter of an architect, and there was always something magical about watching his drawings transform into real buildings — it gave me a lifelong love of structure, character, and the details that make a place truly special.

I'm a self-taught printmaker and mixed media painter based in a garden studio in Buckinghamshire, and I work equally across both disciplines. Whether I'm carving a reduction linoprint or building up layers of collage and mixed media in a painting, I bring the same love of colour and texture to everything I make.

My architectural linoprints are inspired by years of travelling with my husband — from the beautiful buildings of New England to the distinctive Dutch canal houses and anywhere else with genuine character and soul. There is always a print waiting to be found in a well-loved building.

What I love most about linoprinting is the whole process: tracing the image onto the block, making that first cut, and then watching the design slowly reveal itself through each colour in a reduction print. It never gets old.

I came to being a full-time artist over twelve years ago, after back surgery meant I had to leave nursing — a career I loved deeply. It turned out to be the most unexpected silver lining. I now walk two seconds each morning to my garden studio, and I consider myself very lucky indeed. My day starts at 10am earlier in the summer!) and goes on for as long as the work takes me.

I have been fortunate to win the Cranfield Colours Printmaking Award and the Essdee Printmaking Award at the Ironbridge Fine Arts Exhibition, to have been selected for the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, and to have been named by Artfinder as one of their Ones to Watch for 2026.

I exhibit locally and nationally, and I open my studio each year as part of Bucks Art Weeks — I'd love to see you there.
