Statement about the artist and her work combined.

Nancy Herman, is an artist living in Merion, Pennsylvania.  In January of 2010 she began her blog POSTCARDS FROM MERION. In her blog she paints every day and posts the paintings as they are completed.  She tries to capture the things she sees around her that give her joy.  The blog is a good way to share this joy with others and get immediate feedback.  She is interested in capturing the seasons as they change, how light creates patterns that unite shapes and the way a small piece of life can create surprising feelings of the past.  She works in oils on small canvasses, sometimes outdoors and sometimes in her studio.  These paintings are a visual diary of her “seeing” experience.  She has created several books, Postcards From Merion, Postcards from Brooklyn, and if C is Red about her method of translating music to color, all available on Amazon.

She is represented in over 100 public and private collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of the State of Pennsylvania, and the Brevard Museum in Florida.
