  • Biography

Working with drawing, painting and collage, my work centres on snatched glimpses, fleeting images, memories and a sensation of constant flux.

Daily life in British suburbia, my Maltese roots, domestic spaces, dreams and stories of the supernatural has all shaped work that explores ideas around presence and absence, protection, surveillance, identity, intimacy and the space between our public and private lives.

I am also fascinated by the curious, esoteric and uncanny in our everyday lives – when the familiar becomes unfamiliar, when we look and are looked at,  speculation, suggestion and second guessing – and how all of this is experienced, recorded and recalled.

Automatic art-making techniques combine with a purposeful hand to create an array of hybrid, morphing forms, multiples and masked alter-egos. The result is a series of transient encounters, sticky situations and playful reverie that prompt further narratives and interpretations to emerge.

A cross-disciplinary artist, my practice incorporates drawing, collage, painting, photography, video, sound, sculpture, installation, book arts and performance and I have exhibited work across the UK and around the world. I also enjoy teaching art weekly to both adults and children.
