My name is Marija Reikalas, and I am a graphic artist. I draw mostly in black and white and my style could be described as messy minimal, easily recognizable by the use of positive/negative space, high contrast and elegant line. I focus on body positivity, on its grace and uniqueness, expression of mood and power of gentle movement. To reproduce my artwork I use silk-screen and lino-cut printing techniques in my little self-made "studio" in my living room. As well I paint on canvas, cardboard and on the walls (murals). Since very young age I studied academical drawing, graphic design and got myself a Master’s degree in Visual Culture, which influenced me abit and was an opportunity to learn some academic skills, but my best teacher always was nature, feelings, moods and stories. I get influenced everyday. My art is a alegorical reflection of my life.
