About Marianne Nightingale

  • Biography
The newest artwork is in a more graphic style - big cat head studies and the bright and rainbow coloured Contemporary art animals - this was a complete break from many years of photo-realistic artwork - I just needed to go completely off-piste as it were.  Although the eyes on whatever animal I paint are always correct, it was a lot of fun to just paint whatever colours took my fancy and see what turned out at the end!  Hope you like the end result!
As a self-taught artist principally specialising in animals, my artwork is driven by the need to help and conserve and protect the habitat and wildlife that share our world for our grandchildren.  In working with the different substrates used when I was a textile designer, i.e. silk, leather and linen, the detail and depiction of the animals is given an innovative perspective and is unique in the art world. Using oils, acrylics and watercolours according to the subject and substrate keeps the challenge fresh for each work.
