About Malleme Michael

My painting is a journey of discovery, with each painting opening a door to a different little world, like a hidden universe, which I find fascinating to watch as it gradually appears on canvas or paper. I usually start from some random shapes and marks, which provide inspiration and direction for the following layers. My painting process is mostly intuitive and unplanned, and usually involves many layers of acrylic paint, followed by "editing" and refining of particular shapes or colours. Many pictures go through a lot of changes during this process, and the final result can be completely different from the beginning, and often quite a surprise for me. I find it difficult to trace the exact inspiration for each painting, because it can come from almost anywhere and anything I can see around, but organic natural forms and shapes play a big role in providing ideas for the images I create.
