About Katrina Case

Biography

My artistic process is probably not so different from most artists.  I tend to work in spurts.  I usually have 4 to 6 paintings in production.  I try to complete one to two very strong pieces a week.  I try to spend time everyday working on my techniques, challenging myself and studying art.  I paint every day.  I try to push myself to be better every day. I am a strong believer in deliberate practice and I try to spend at least 3 to 4 hours a day creating.  The rest as it turns out is the business of art, marketing, sales, shipping, following up and answering emails.  Some day’s art is the easy part.

I also take time to switch between mediums. During my off time for oil paintings I usually work with my watercolor fly fishing paintings, creating jewelry or trying something new with large canvases and Acrylics.  I work mainly in oils because I love the workability they give me.  They allow me to blend and re-blend colors for an extended time.  My inspiration comes for nature I love landscapes.  I enjoy browsing the earth pictures on Reddit or on Google + in search of the ones that inspire me.  I then will contact the photographer and more often than not they are flattered to allow me paint their image.  I have painted several photographs by photographer Trey Ratcliff.  I also draw inspiration for the human from, painting portraits and figures.
