About Igor Trokhymenko

  • Biography
I was born on August 3, 1967 in Kharkiv. I lived in the Kharkiv region until 2001. I moved to Kyiv in 2001, where I have lived until today. I graduated from V. Karazin National University of Kharkiv (economy) in 1991. I graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2008 (jurisprudence). I have worked as a lawyer in a private company for the last 18 years, and as a manager for the last five years. Why did I start drawing? At one moment I felt that I was losing the ability to rejoice and enjoy what I was doing, and looking deeper into myself, I saw nothing better than painting, which I did as a child. I started doing watercolor in November 2016 systematically (unfortunately, I did not receive a professional art education, I am an amateur artist). Why watercolor? I chose watercolor consciously - it is one of the most difficult techniques in painting, but also one of the most charming: watercolor works always attract my attention for lightness, transparency and maximum closeness to the essence of life - with the uniqueness of each moment and full of light and color. Why are you interested in landscapes in the first? I am convinced that life around us is filled with beauty that you only need to see, listen to, feel, and the works of nature are always perfect in structure, color and composition, which is not the case with human activity (with rare exceptions). Separately I will talk about the genre "Citylandscape". One of my favorite activities is walking down streets, finding a cozy corner at a table in cafe and watching life around me - as the sun illuminates harmonious line of the urban landscape; how bizarre shadows are formed, similar to fairy-tale characters; how slowly and muffledly the old couple communicates, carefully supporting each other; how sensitively and gently the newlyweds kiss, regardless of the people around them; how cheerfully and cheerfully the baby screams, just enjoying life… And often desire comes to snatch this clot of life and transfer it to paper with watercolors, because it is for me and embodies life - unique, colorful, transparent… In my opinion, Kyiv today is not sufficiently reproduced in the watercolor works of contemporaries, and it deserves more… There is something to show the world. I like to paint in the open air, it's a real pleasure for me. Photo or video will not convey that color scheme and state of nature at a certain moment, after all, my mood at this moment is also reflected in the work and it is immediately felt. Many works are created in the workshop on the basis of some sketches, they are different in the manner of execution and size. My works have participated more than twenty exhibitions and festivals, as: Fabrianoinacquarello2018, Fabriano (Italy), Urbinoinacquarello2018, Urbino (Italy), 1st International watercolor exhibition "Our Wonderful World", Kharkiv(Ukraine) II International watercolor festival minicastra2018, Ajdovščina (Slovenia), "Make the Watercolor Great Again", Bucharest, Romania, International festival "Mini Watercolor Kyiv 2019", Kyiv(Ukraine) and many others. My artworks are in private collections in Ukraine, Italy, Slovenia, Cyprus, Denmark and Germany.
