Artworks by Igor Nekraha

My painting practice grows from a close connection to Ukrainian nature and a love of travelling. I am drawn to moments when an ordinary landscape reveals a particular atmosphere through light, colour, and space. An open field, a quiet shoreline, or a changing sky can become the starting point for a painting.

I work with simplified forms, expressive brushwork, and carefully balanced colour relationships to convey the mood of what I observe. My palette moves between soft, muted tones and stronger colours, depending on the feeling of the landscape. I allow both the subject and the painting itself to guide the process, leaving room for unexpected discoveries.

I want my paintings to offer more than a pleasing image. I hope viewers find something familiar in them - a memory, an emotion, or a sense of a place they have experienced. For me, painting is a way of paying attention, preserving a passing moment, and sharing the feelings it leaves behind.
