About Angel Hakobyan

  • Biography

Angela is an abstract and surrealist painter born on November 25, 1989, in the city of Gyumri, Armenia. She has been drawing since the age of five, and that early spark of creativity has shaped every chapter of her life since.

Angela studied at the Merkurov Art School and later at the Academy of Fine Arts, building a strong academic foundation while nurturing her deeply personal artistic vision. She believes her mission as an artist is to bring kindness and positivity to the world — a philosophy that flows through every work she creates.

For nearly ten years, Angela has shared her passion by teaching drawing, working across three developmental schools and dedicating meaningful attention to children with special needs. Her teaching reflects the same warmth and humanity that defines her art.

Beyond painting, Angela's creative life is richly varied: she crafts beaded bags, practices batik, creates street art, illustrates books, and writes poetry. This breadth of expression speaks to an artist who finds beauty and meaning in many forms.

At the heart of her practice are psychological paintings — deeply introspective works in which viewers are invited to encounter and feel their own inner states. In Angela's world, art is not merely something to be seen, but something to be felt.
