Artist Statement & Biography
Alexandra Petropoulou is a contemporary Greek abstract artist whose work bridges the tactile reality of nature with expressive modern abstraction. Inspired by the rugged Mediterranean coastline, raw earth textures, and the serene movement of the sea, she creates heavy-textured, sculptural paintings that explore depth, light, and organic form.
The Technique & Materials
Working from her studio in Greece, Alexandra’s signature approach centers on the physical manipulation of the canvas. She builds highly tactile, three-dimensional surfaces using:
High-density structural media & plaster to sculpt ridge-like, geological formations.Layered organic elements that mimic weathered stone, sea ripples, and natural strata.Premium acrylics and archival varnishes that interact dynamically with changing light throughout the day.
The Vision
Her atmospheric artworks are intentionally designed for upscale modern interiors, bringing a calm, refined, and sophisticated contemporary presence into a space. Influenced by coastal horizons, olive grove landscapes, and earthy natural elements, each piece is a unique study of balance and renewal.
Alexandra’s original, hand-painted artworks are held in private collections internationally, bringing the raw, powerful, and serene essence of the Mediterranean landscape to contemporary homes worldwide.
