This piece is all about the lighting and atmosphere, there is a slight menace about it with the dark background and directional lighting from underneath. We are not sure exactly who or what the subject is looking at or referring to.
The work portrays a fleeting moment, the expression of the subject offering us a glimpse into their innermost thoughts. The works can be interpreted as part conversations, part musings, into which the viewer is drawn willingly or not into the world of the subject, both in a voyeuristic and complicit way.
It is painted in oils on a shallow edge canvas (the edge is also painted in the same dark tones) it can be hung as it is or framed if preferred.
